Windows Live Mail 2012 minimize only to tray?

There is a tip about enabling Vista-compatibility mode, thus allowing WLM to always minimize to tray, but it does not work on 8. Any one got this working? Thanks.

You are right, I should have been more clear. It is in the tray, but it's also taking space in the task bar. It should be possible to minimize it in the tray alone.

No, it is not pinned. It just stays in the taskbar. When minimized, it will go the tray, but it will stay in the taskbar, too.

Windows Live Maill will hang/crash in Vista compatible. The closest you can do is use: http://www.gregorybraun.com/TRAYTOOL.ZIP . This program will allows you to place up to 24 items in the notification area (System Tray). The tool itself will also show in the tray.

Here's an example adding notepad++ and Windows Live Mail:

Maybe I am thinking in the wrong direction. I have mine hidden in the notification area, but pinned to the taskbar. In this case I only have one Live mail icon on the bottom bar, so no extra space is being used?
