    silverlight issues

So I am trying to watch a video on the MS store and of course it needs silver light to run. I did a fresh install of windows 8 so I went and installed it, did my updates and a reboot and still not working. Tried to also test in on Netflix but Netflix keeps wanting me to use the app so I am not sure if it is the website or something wrong with silver light. Any ideas?

Awesome man it worked. Will silver light ever work in the metro internet explorer? Not that it matter but it amazes me that it doesn't support it.

Microsoft is following the global standards. Silverlight is pretty great but not many are using it since it is proprietary. Netflix is one of the big users of the tech.

try out the netflix windows store app. it's pretty great. been regularly updated and it supports full HD and surround sound audio.

here's a good article on it:
AnandTech - Getting the Best out of an Ivy Bridge HTPC: Windows 8, madVR and More..
excerpts (go to article for full text):

...the aspect which stands out immediately is the fact that the video playback bitrate can go as high as 3.85 Mbps.

To determine the actual efficiency of Netflix playback, we recorded power consumption at the wall for both scenarios over a 10 minute interval during the middle of the stream.

The graph presents some very interesting results. With Windows 8, the system consumes much less power and the stream is also of higher quality. GPU acceleration in the app makes the streaming more than 30% efficient when compared to the Silverlight version. Compared to Windows 7 Silverlight, the Netflix app is efficient by approximately 35%. Windows 8, by itself, seems to consume less power too. Considering these results, if Netflix forms any part of your HTPC usage scenario, it is a no-brainer to upgrade from Windows 7 to Windows 8.

I just had a conversation with someone at sky. I have Sky Go on my old machine and checked to ensure that if I downloaded Silverlight on to my new one it would work with Windows 8. The answer I got was "No they are yet to issue a version for Windows 8" :( Thought I would share this.
