    Email typing problems

I have Microsoft's Windows 8 'Mail' email service, ( I think its called 'Outlook'). When I'm about to type an email I first reset the 'font' size to 14 & set the 'bold' type. However, when I hit the 'Enter' key to start a new paragraph the font size goes back to its original size & sometimes the 'Bold' jumps out also. Any suggestions to solve this? Also does anybody know of an easy way to 'Select' a section of text, e.g. to 'Copy' & 'Paste' it. It's a real hit & miss for me. I have no problems 'Selecting' text in e.g. Wordpad.

Put the cursor where you want it.
To get it located precisely (if it's off a letter or 2) use the left or right arrow keys.
Then, hold the Shift key & use the left or right arrow key to highlight the text & from Edit choose Copy.
    Or press Ctrl + C.
Or right click the highlighted text & choose Copy.

To paste press Ctrl key + V.

Thanks medab 1, I'm afraid it's not that easy. As I said it works fine in WordPad or Notepad, but trying to select text in email on my machine is a hit & miss proposition. It's really temperamental, I guess I'll just have to live with it. No suggestions about the font & bold?

I don't use Microsoft email programs.
    I use Gmail.
    No problems there with fonts.

Someone else that uses the same email as you might respond.

If you want all of your text to be 14 point and bold, you should set it after you're done typing. Highlight all the text and change the formatting.

are you using a keyboard and mouse? touch? trackpad? I'm trying to figure out why it's hit and miss to select text.

    Solved

Thanks guys, I use a touchscreen & it's a real hassle trying to highlight email text by touch & cursor placementl. I can use the pad & the previous suggestion of using the shift + arrow keys works, as I've just tried it. That's a very good suggestion about typing the text first & then changing the format size & emboldening it. I typed up a few lines & selected it with the keys & it worked fine. Thanks a lot.

    You have a laptop ?

If so you could buy a cheap plug & play usb mouse & attach it.

I have the same problem. In NT I used to be able to change the default template with font, type size, and even a "signature" block. I would much prefer to change the template than struggle with a work-around such as has been suggested. Does anyone know where/how to change the default Hotmail template in Windows 8?
