i will assume you went to the outbox and tried deleting it ,to the best of my knowledge it should not stop other emails from being sent ,unless they are all going to the same place

the problem is that there is no delete button on the outbox nor can you simply move the message to any other box
such as Junk or Inbox where you could delete.
No the other emails are to different addresses and whilst this started as just slowing the transmission it has now developed in to a total blockage with no mail in or out,
Fortunatly I am able to communicate using my laptop. which is moving messages in both directions normally.

Could you log on to your hotmail account from your browser and delete from there?

I did a fresh format and install of Windows 8 64 Bit Pro. Sorry but I couldn't live without a start button so I have installed the Start8 start menu which is great. I try sometimes not to use it but find metro frustrating to find programs as I have many. I will use Metro for apps only and desktop of serious computing.
Leave your 'Mail' Outbox open, turn off your Wi-Fi connection, after a few seconds a 'Delete' trash bin opens in the top right corner, (or elsewhere), you can delete all your 'Outbox' messages.

    Touchscreen,
Hello all. I'm wondering why people are having problems with the 8 Mail app. I have absolutely none and find it to be a great app and simple to use. Using the keyboard arrow keys I can scroll to any email and press Delete or Ctrl+D. I can use Ctrl+A keys to group and delete. I can scroll to an email which gets highlighted, hold down the Ctrl key, use arrow key to scroll to another, press Enter (which highlights and brings up the options menu bar), and choose an option.

Using the mouse, one can select an email by right clicking, then left click to bring up options bar, then choose an option. Hold Ctrl key and select with right or left clicking to group. This also brings up the options menu bar for options. Press the trash in upper right corner to move to Deleted folder, go to Deleted folder, select any or all, then press trash can again to delete permanantly.

This is very similar to the Live Mail program. I can perform any of this in any folder in any one of my three email accounts.

One can use the Tab key to tab through options, folders, and accounts list.

Here's some help and keyboard shortcuts for Mail app: Mail app for Windows: FAQs - Microsoft Windows Help

Here's MS's page of Keyboard shortcuts: Keyboard shortcuts - Microsoft Windows Help

Here's "A Guy's" list/thread: http://www.eightforums.com/tutorials/2355-windows-8-keyboard-shortcut-keys-list.html

Perhaps something is wrong with the app and/or system. Please see post #10 here: http://www.eightforums.com/browsers-mail/25148-purpose-outbox-mail.html

I wouldn't know about the touch navigation with any of this, for I don't have a touch screen yet.

in addition to what hippy and robin said, don't forget to update your Mail app to the latest version. even if your PC is completely brand new or you just got Windows 8, by default, they come with the original version of the apps from when Windows 8 was first released.

you have to update all the apps through the Windows Store. you'll see a tile on your start screen that says Store and it'll have a number.

see this post:
http://www.eightforums.com/software-apps/24191-maps.html#post225064

Hit the <Windows> key on your keyboard to bring up the Start Screen.

on your start screen is a Store tile. it's green. click or tap on the tile to load it:

the windows store will look something like this:
20870d1368927561-maps-3808.windows-store_5f00_2.png

check the top right corner and see if there's an "updates" and a number. this will indicate if there are available updates and how many there are:

if no updates are showing, bring up the Charms bar. with a mouse, you bring the cursor to the top right edge of the screen and then move the cursor downward. with a trackpad, you put your finger on the right edge of the trackpad and swipe leftward. with a touchscreen, you put your finger on the right edge of the screen and swipe leftward. click/tap on the "Settings":

select "Apps update":

click on the "check for updates" button:
20874d1368927561-maps-1hz4ar.jpg

if there are apps to update, it'll look like this. click on the "install" button:

I also thank you dirtyvu. Since I bought this notebook in Jan. I have never bothered to update any apps. With your instructions I updated 37 apps of which Mail was one of them. Maybe it will solve the problem I've been having with the transmission of emails which seem to go straight into my Outbox & stay there. I know now how to delete them but I want them Sent which is the object of the game.
