Missing Favorites

Somewhat new at all this, so please be nice. I was successful in listing all web favorites using desktop and they all indeed appeared in the Metro version and all was well for about a month. Got tired of seeing the frequent list in the Metro so followed a tip I thought would help. Went to start screen, clicked IE tile, clicked settings, clicked delete browsing history. It worked - to a point. Now there is nothing on the bottom bar in Metro browser. However, the desktop version favorites are still there and I can add and delete to it as I please. But I can add nothing to the Metro version. I have tried to go back to that same setting screen, but there seems to be no option to try. Help?
