I cannot seem to find the right settings for ADD AN ACCOUNT when I am in the MAIL program on this Win8 pc. I have opened MAIL, which I take is Outlook.com SETTINGS>ADD AN ACCOUNT from there I supply email address, password, username and then for the

Incoming (IMAP) email server PORT ??
[ ] Incoming server requires SSL
Outgoing (SMTP) email server PORT ??
[ ] Outgoing Server requires SSL
[ ] Outgoing Server requires authentication
[ ] Use the same username and password to send and receive mail ( I think this box should be checked )

I can find no combination of things that work. Can anyone help? I have tried Googling all sorts of sites and pages but can not seem to come to some workable combination. Much appreciated. jack

I don't know about Verizon's IMAP support but the following are Verizon's POP Mail Server settings...

Incoming (POP) email server= pop.verizon.net Port= 995 (This Requires SSL)
[X] Incoming server requires SSL

Outgoing (SMTP) email server= smtp.verizon.net Port= 465 (This Requires SSL and Authentication)
[X] Outgoing Server requires SSL
[X] Outgoing Server requires authentication

[X] Use the same username and password to send and receive mail

woebegone: I guess I could try that but according to all I have read the settings within Outlook.com for windows8 have to be IMAP settings. I know the POP3 settings by heart I've used them so many years. But I can't seem to hit on the correct IMAP settings within Outlook.com's required. Thanks for responding. jack

Verizon doesn't support IMAP so you cannot setup the default Mail app in Win 8 for a Verizon Account. Customers have been complaining about the lack of IMAP support for over 3 years but so far the only response I've seen from Verizon is that they've make a corporate decision not to support IMAP.

Hi guys. I'm a little confused here, so I'll make this statement; The Windows 8 Mail app is not Outlook.com. It's entirely a different program or mail client. Windows 8 Mail app does not support pop. There is a work around to this however, but I don't remember it and I'll have to look.

So far as Vz; I have Vz cellular service. I'm really starting to dislike the company for various reasons. No IMAP support is one. I feel that the "corporate decision" not to support it is that they do not want to spend their money to service their customers. Everyone and their mother is going to IMAP. Get with it Vz!

I'll post back if I find the work around.

Edit: Here's the work around:
