After upgrading from windows 7 to windows 8 I get a box message that won't go away. It is titled "FlashPlayerPlugin _11_5_502_146exe - Application error" and the message is "The instruction at 0x71a30000 referenced memory at 0x71a30000. the memory could not be written. click on OK to terminate the program".
I click on OK but it just won't go away. Does anyone knows what this is and how can I get rid of it. Thank you:(

From the version number, 11.5.502.146 is the latest version of Flash Player for IE10 and Firefox/Chrome/etc.
Adobe - Flash Player

I haven't installed Flash Player on Firefox since upgrading to Windows 8, but in the past I've found that my Firefox Flash installation and the IE Flash installation were separate entities and both needed to be managed separately.

If it still works like that, IE10's Flash player 11.5.502.146 would be separate from Firefox's Flash Player 11.5.502.146 even though the version numbers are the same.

I'd try uninstalling Flash Player rather than Firefox.

I don't have Win 8 on the PC in front of me at this minute, but is Flash Player listed in "Programs and Features" (can't remember exact name) within Control Panel? If so, what happens if you uninstall Flash Player?

I uninstalled Flash Player and so far so good, I' m not getting the message again. However I got a new one:
"Unable to cast object of type 'System.Boolean' to type 'System.String'.
Any ideas will be eternally appreciated!!

Are you using Firefox (or other application) when you get the error messages? Or it is for instance when you start Windows?

If you uninstall Flash player but go to this page in Internet Explorer 10 (rather than Firefox), what does it say?:
Adobe - Flash Player

Yes, Firefox seems to be the problem. If I uninstall the Flash player it works fine, although I won't be able to watch video content. With the Flash player installed, I get the message "The instruction at 0x71a30000 referenced memory at 0x71a30000. the memory could not be written. click on OK to terminate the program" and it works very clumsy. The other message, "Unable to cast object of type 'System.Boolean' to type 'System.String" only appeared when I restarted the computer, I haven't seen it since. Oddly enough, I don't have the IE browser in my computer?!

Did you get a "Browser Choice" thing soon after you installed Windows, that let you choose Firefox? (Must admit I thought Browser Choice was only for us folks in the EU.)

If so, it may have hidden IE10 but you can bring it back. See "Is Internet Explorer removed by the Browser Choice update?" in the list of questions here:
What is the Browser Choice update? (KB976002) - Microsoft Windows

I think it may be worth trying, just to see if it works with Flash.

Hmm - maybe Firefox "helpfully" unpinned IE from the Start Menu and Taskbar for you.

What happens if you follow the instructions (from the Microsoft FAQ link above) and Pin IE back to the Taskbar? Does IE reappear? Will it run Flash videos?

You're right, the IE was disabled and I had to bring it back. The problem is there I can't do anything with it; once I try open a page ... it stops working!

I think you may need someone with more knowledge than me to sort it out then, I'm afraid. :(

At this point, it seems to me that the Flash Player error message is related to the Firefox mozilla browser. Once I uninstal the plugin, all is good, with the exception that I can't watch video content on a web page. Chrome always runs nice and smooth, and now this issue with I.E.?! I never liked this browser, anyway. I wonder if it will "behave" if I set it as default ...
In any case, thank you so much for your help!
