Transfer email and contacts files from Vista to Windows 8

I have saved emails and also lengthy contact lists and contact groups on my old laptop, which is running Windows Mail on VISTA. I want to transfer all this information to my new laptop, which is running Windows 8. Can someone tell me how to do this? The Mail app in Windows 8 does not seem to be compatible with the old Windows mail. I have tried several ways to transfer this info but no success.

Can't be done......but there is a tutorial on this site that I followed to install Windows mail from vista to windows 8. Go to the tutorial section and do a search.
