Desktop vs tablet

Hello,

I was hoping to get some help. I've come across a few sites and programs (ie www.nfl.com) that automatically takes me to the mobile version of their site for some parts or assumes by laptop is a tablet as it assumes it is a tablet. Is there anywhere that will allow me to designate that my machine is a laptop ("desktop") and not a tablet and therefore is not a mobile device.

Thank you

IE10, but its not just websites. There have been a couple of programs that will not install as they say they are not compatible with tablet/mobile devices.

can you post exact software and error messages you are getting?

Also, this sounds like a browser issues specifically, this is not a Laptop issue.

Sounds like you might be going to the wrong address as a bookmark?

I am able to access NFL without issue on a Dell Inspiron 1764, both in the Desktop Browser and Metro Browser, it is not redirecting me to the mobile site.

Have you tried clearing Cookies, Temp Inet Files etc.?
Try going to Internet Options and doing a Reset Web Settings?

As well the nfl.com site works fine until I try to access game center to see all the stats of a game.

Yeah, you may have to contact Dell about this.
I was able to install the MS Reader without issue.

This is an issue of that laptop, not Win8.
