    Can't add Gmail account to Mail

    I just got a new Windows 8 laptop and can't add my gmail account to the mail app. When I click on the mail tile it says "You need to update your microsoft account profile before you can sign in. There are 2 options below "Fix It" & "Cancel".

    If I click Fix It it launches a new web page but the page is never loaded. I'm not having trouble with any other web pages, it just seems to be this one. The same thing happens when I try to launch the Calendar or People tiles.

    I tried logging into my account through the microsoft website, didn't look like there was anything wrong there. Any ideas on how to fix this problem?

    is IE your default web browser? If you made Chrome or Firefox or any other browser the default, try switching your default browser back to IE to complete this process. then you can switch back to your preferred browser. though it'd be better to keep IE as the default so that you keep your access to metro IE10. You can still use other browsers while IE is the default.

    Tried doing that, still didn't work. It opens up a new IE window with the error messageThere's a temporary problem with the service. Please try again. If you continue to get this message, try again later.

    Been getting this message for a few days now so don't know what else to try

    Hi all;
    Just asking, i am planning to use GMAIL, Google Calendar and Google contacts in Windows 8. However, just read that Google will disable Google Sync for GMAIL in Windows 8. What is the effect of this on the related apps in Windows 8?
