    Applications and desktop

Does anyone know to stop Internet Explorer and/or Google Chrome to stop going to the desktop to open? When I originally got windows 8 internet explorer automatically opened from the start menu but for some reason it now goes to the desktop screen ad opens up from there. Is there a way to get it to open from the start menu again?

Hello 13jinx, and welcome to Eight Forums.

It all depends on which one you have set as the default program for which one will have it's Metro version available.

    Hope this helps,

IE 10 forces desktop mode unless it is selected as the default browser. Nice feature, eh?

Hi, every now and then in Windows 8, an application disappears into the top left hand corner of the screen when they maximise back from being minimised to the bottom task bar. There appears to be no way to recover the application, even if I stop it in task manager and start it again. If I click...
The only way I've found to add app icons to the desktop is to go to the All Apps screen, right click, go to file location, then add a shortcut to the desktop from there. Is there an easier way? Thanks
I only know of two so far - Internet Explorer 10 and Google Chrome Browser - the top left corner has no icon, but there's a menu if clicked: 47824783 It's interesting that Chrome offers you a Task Manager option.
