Yeah, they should allow you to change options within Metro IE10. I think they didn't because settings are not very touch-friendly. So they thought that you could stash the settings under the desktop IE10.

The suggestion above works perfectly . . . . opening in the desktop mode will allow you to add Google (in Metro mode you can't) and once it's in there and made default, you're done with Bing forever! Now all my searches are Google searches, just as they were before when using earlier versions of Windows. Why they make things like this so difficult, I haven't a clue

I'm happy to hear that you got it sorted.

"I'd love to hear others experience using Windows 8 in the metro mode with Chrome as your browser."
I just noticed the "relaunch chrome in Windows 8 mode option" in the latest version of Chrome. I've been finding Chrome kind of wonky on my new W8 pro machine, but the "Windows 8 mode" aka metro seems to be flying. Either some plugin that isn't supported in this mode, or the Chrome team has optimized this flavor for W8 as opped to the desktop flavor.
    Anyone else have this experience?

is there any point to Chrome to Windows 8 mode? It seems the same as Chrome on the desktop and uses none of the Windows 8 conventions or features.

does it even have any touch features yet? I love Chrome and it's still my favorite browser but the lack of touch support is maddening.

When IE10 stopped playing videos last night, I gave up and installed Chrome and made it my default browser and video and everything else works just fine. IE10 is too "wonky" for me and Chrome seems faster and more stable.

I read somewhere that Chrome does not work with RT. Is that correct? I didn't try it because of that.

Windows RT is a completely different animal than Windows 8 and was written for a different CPU family. Chrome works well in Win8, I have no idea about RT because I have no interest or use for Windows RT. There are some others here who are much more familiar with Windows RT and I'm sure they can provide the details I don't have. Good luck!

    bertie11, I'm sorry that I didn't notice that you're running Windows RT.

No problem azasadny. In fact, the RT system belongs to my wife, she only just bought it in spite of me telling her to stick with Win 7! I use Chrome on my 7 systemsand wanted her to try it but she is happy (!) with IE10 anyway. My job is to set it up for her.

I got fed up with IE last night, videos suddenly stopped playing and the browser complained that I didn't have the proper add-ins to play them, but I was just playing videos and it didn't tell me what add-ons I needed. I installed Google Chrome and it seems to work fine on Win8, but I've only had it one day, so we'll see.

Then, at work today Java and IE on Windows 7 decided to stop working and I can't access our AV consoles using the java client, so I'm extremely frustrated with IE right about now!
