IE Version 10 Metro opens on Desktop

I have recently installed Windows 8 Pro on my computer.

When I go to the Metro (new Start) screen, there is an icon for IE. When I click on that icon, the desktop version of IE 10 opens on the desktop. If I click on the "X" in the upper right hand corner of the screen, I am left on the desktop.

I was unable to find IE in the Store, so don't have any idea how to reload and/or reinstall IE so that it will open as a Metro App.

I too had this issue earlier, however found the same solution as provided by user 'Brink'. It seems to be a commonly occurring problem.

Thanks for your input. When choosing Internet Options under Tools in IE, I then went to programs.

Under Opening Internet Explorer/ Choose how you Open Links, there is a check box for: Open Internet Explorer tiles on the Desktop. For some reason, this box was checked.

When I unchecked this box and clicked on Apply, and then OK, I closed the desktop IE, and went to the Windows 8 Start screen. Now, when I click on the IE tile, I get the Metro version of IE.

    Again, thanks for your help.
