Confused need help with setting up mail

I have a Panasonic camera and the software program that comes with it allows me to send a photo by email...but, when I click to email it says "No profiles have been created. To create a profile use the mail icon in the control panel". But, obviously this program was around before windows 8. Is there a way I can set this up so that it goes thru my gmail? I don't want to do it as an attachment, I want to be able to go into this program and hit email....any ideas? While I'm on the photo problem, maybe someone knows why I can upload photos to facebook? Using the same program...it keeps saying check connection (I'm connected), check proxy settings. But, proxy setting just say connect with IE. Sigh.....
