Hello guys!

I just removed internet explorer 10 from my computer.
I cant start it up from my metro menu but what i can do is search via bing. that opens a ie10 window.
That file is called iexplore.exe But when i add that file to my metro menu it opens ie9?
Could someone says where to find a download for ie10?
thank you very much!

Hello Jappteeuw, and welcome to Eight Forums. :)

Only IE10 comes with Windows 8. There is two versions of IE10 in Windows 8, a Metro and Desktop version.

Could you explain more about how you removed IE10 from your computer, and how you believe it opens IE9?

For now, please do not try to download and install IE9 or IE10.

I believe that ie9 pops up because it looks the same as ie9! Otherwise i cant find the metro version of IE10. When searching in bing the metro windows of IE10 pops up but when i do alt tab it shows an white folded paper instead of an IE logo! Also i dont remember how i removed it

Go to the control panel, and open up the Default Programs applet (or just type "Default Programs" in search, and find it under settings). From there, you can click "Select Default Programs", then select Internet Explorer from the list and click "Set this program as default". This will set IE as the default browser, and replace any IE icons you may have deleted.

Note the "IE9" you see is just the IE10 desktop browser.

You can't install another version on Win8, so that isn't gonna help you. The program is in \Program Files\Internet Explorer and is named iexplore.exe if you need to re-pin it to your task bar. Doing the above default programs thing should re-pin it to your start screen, however.

Jappteeuw,

You can open IE10 Metro from the Start screen. Do you have the exact same blue E icon like below on your Start screen?

no that is my problem!!!

Ok then. Have you already set Internet Explorer as the default program with all of it's associations as cluberti posted above?

In addition, check in All Apps to see if it's listed there to be able to Pin to Start.

You cannot pin the iexplore.exe file to Start for the IE10 Metro. That is for the IE10 desktop only.

Did you first set Internet Explorer as the default program with all of it's associations as cluberti posted above?

If you did, then you should see the IE10 Metro tile instead. If it's not on the Start screen then look for the IE10 Metro tile in "All Apps" to "Pin to Start".

If restarting the computer doesn't help, then you may need to either refresh or reset Windows 8. Be sure to backup anything you do not want to lose first to be safe.
