outlook synced to gmail - server address issues

    Hi.

I need to have my gmail syncing into what used to be Outlook 2010 (and I assume is now outlook.com on windows 8). The set up cannot find the settings so asks me for the server address.

I assumed it asked for imap.gmail.com and various other attempts but it does not work.

My email address is a private domain pointed to gmail with MX records. I entered mydomain in the domain dialog.

Anyone know what server address it is hoping for?

    Thanks

    Kilo

If I remember well outlook.com is only good for hotmail and regular Gmail, what you have is a Google Apps Email with your own domain , from what I can see it will not work, you need to use the real Office Outlook. I may be wrong as I don't plan to use it.

I was hoping that I would not have to pay out extra for 119 for Outlook 2010 have already bought Microsoft Office! Just seems a bit poor that a new system with a thin mail client cant cope with alternative email addresses especially as its online brother can :P

Early days for win8 i guess

Microsoft will not give Outlook features for free, that's for sure.

This is for live mail...if that helps...it will require your email password and setup to open

I use web-based and Thunderbird...but T bird only receives emails when it wants in Win 8....it worked fine in Win 7

So, basically I log into Gmail...with three different Browsers and add a Gail default to each Gmail account
(only because I use several different email accounts for clients family, friends etc)

You can add pop mail to Live Mail
I seldom use Live Mail, but I have all my mail stored there from my different accounts as a storage backup

    I guess I confused everyone

I was giving Live Mail as another choice

Windows Live Mail and Windows Mail are two completely different programs

No the link will not open until you have it set up and have a password

Windows Live Mail, part of Windows Live and therefore requiring you to create and use a Windows Live ID, is a very competent mail client with a built-in online calendar, and you should certainly try it before buying Outlook.

Window Live Mail is available here for Download.

    More info below;

    Windows Live Mail

You can add all your email accounts to Windows Live Mail. It's as easy as typing in an email address and password, and then following a few steps. Once your email accounts have been added, organize your conversations. Here's how to do all this in Mail.
    Add an email account

In your Mail inbox, click Accounts and then click Email. Type your email address, password, and display name, and then click Next. If you want to add more accounts, click Add another email account.
