File Corruption From Latest Batch of Updates

Something in the latest batch of updates (Image Attached) has resulted in file corruption as detected when running Sfc /scannow. The corruption is repaired but the same message reappears every time it is run. I have restored to just prior to installing the updates and do not have any corruption. I will reinstall updates a couple at a time to determine the culprit. This has happened on both my PC's.

Has anyone else experienced this problem?

Thanks for your reply and info. I figured I was not the only one affected but not much traffic left on the W-8 Forum. I will try installing some that are not on your attached list and go from there and likely do the rest one at a time. I will let you know if I find anything pertinent but probably won't do much more until tomorrow.

You're welcome, I've eliminated KB3110329 from that list since.

I'm on KB3121212 right now, that's a kernel update so it has a good chance.

EDIT: That one came back clean too.

Earlier I had installed those in two groups of three.

Can't pinpoint any single update for you but installing them one at a time comes back clean now.

Thanks for all the info. I have not done anything yet but I thought I would check back here before hitting the sack. I believe I am 3 hours later than you.

When I installed the first time I did the whole batch and you did groups, both with problems and now installing 1 by 1 no problem, interesting but I have heard of this behavior before with batches of updates. It could also be that whatever bug there might have been has already been fixed. I am not complaining, at least we can still control what gets installed.:D
I will let you know when I install in the morning.

I did the whole batch at first too, the groups were just to narrow down the culprits after uninstalling them.

The PITA was running about 15 SFC scans today.

Who knows the reason, but yeah, I'm glad it worked out too.

A false positive of the inventory agent DLL? It is the only file being marked by SFC at my system.

Interesting! Update KB3121461 causing SFC file corruption.

So ,on my Desktop I decided to install each update one by one, restart and run sfc/ scannow after each one to check for corruptions. Chose the desktop cause it's pretty fast and can get through the sfc/ scannow pretty fast. After about 6 updates with every going smoothly I hit a snag with KB3121461, file corruption just as before. I uninstall KB3121461, restart then no corruptions with SFC/ scannow. I leave this out for now and finish the list, restarting and sfc/ scannow after each one with no problems. At the very last I try KB3121461 again and same thing, file corruption. Tried installing again and same thing.

On my laptop I installed the whole list except for KB3121461 successfully with no corruptions then after installing KB3121461 I get corruptions. So at least for my PC's KB3121461 is causing problems so I am going to let that on sit for a while. I have encountered false positives with scf/ scannow before and this is acting the same way. I will try KB3121416 again in a couple of days.

Are you attributing this to KB3121461?

Interesting, I have that one installed and got no corruption after the install. Just checked again and no corruption.

Update 3 hasn't yet been installed, after installing update 1 the corruption has returned.
Updates 2 and 3 have been removed after each other as I wanted to start with removing everything at once and update 2 didn't require a reboot for removal.
I find it however odd that after removing update 1 the corruption was still there, but after removing the other 2 no corruption was present anymore.

I am at a point right now where KB3121461 causes the file corruption every time I install it. Everything else is installed with no corruptions. Last night I tried installing KB3121461 two more times on both my PC's and same thing. Funny though, when I uninstall KB3121461 it requires a restart but I need to restart a second time to get a clean sfc/ scannow. The only thing I never did try was installing KB3121461 first without all the rest.

I've just installed the updates including KB3121461 and SFC /SCANNOW shows no errors. Maybe only a few users have this problem or MS has fixed it?
