Solved Windows 8 - 159 updates

I have reinstalled my Windows 8 Pro as I think there were a few settings missing.
I have just run sfc /scannow to check for errors and got the following message when it finished :

'Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files and successfully repaired them".
I restarted my computer after this. Hopefully this will solve my previous problem of not being able to update to Windows 10.

I have 159 important updates to download for W8 before I can update to W10. Is there any way I can avoid this as nearly everyone of them states that after downloading the computer should be restarted. Can I download all of these together?
I tried downloading them before the sfc/scannow and all 159 failed.

If I can get to the stage of updating to W8.1 should I turn off my McAfee Total Protection?

    Retired in 2015 after working in the tech industry for 41 years. First 10 years as a Technician, the rest as a programmer/software engineer. After 1 year of retirement, I was bored so went back to work as a Robotic Process Automation Consultant. Retired for 3rd (and final) time in 2019.
I have used your link and downloaded W10 it didn't ask me if I wanted Home or Pro (I have Pro). Having downloaded the CMT numerous times and been unable to open it I was very pleased to see that at last W10 was downloading.
Everything seems to have gone well but when it says Getting Updates, it has been showing the round working symbol and nothing is happening., It has been over twenty minutes now. Is this normal or should I click Next?

Just changed screens and it is now checking my PC. Fingers crossed it works, will get back to you.
