Started getting this error after I recently downgraded my internet speed. Not sure if that had anything to do with it but that's when I started getting the error msg. I followed the instructions here -

Windows Update error 80070422, 80244019, or 8DDD0018

- but it did not work. The final step - "13. In the Services window, double-click Software Licensing." - There was no "Software Licensing" service listed.

No viruses.

Any help much appreciated.

I tried temporarily disabling AVG, still got the error msg. So I disabled it completely in Task Manager and rebooted, same result.

I tried booting into safe mode with network but I couldn't even get it to connect to update.

It's set to automatic. That was part of that convoluted process that I linked in my first post. So should I just wait and see if it updates? I also have a notebook so I'll know when an update is due.

By downgrading your speed, do you mean you bought a new router or via your provider?

I had tried some kind of general troubleshooting, didn't know there was a specific one for updates. I ran the update troubleshooter, it says:
"One or more Windows Update components are configured incorrectly." Then it stops the Bits and Cryptsvc services, then restarts them, says it's fixed. But I still get the same error msg.

I downgraded my bandwidth from 50/5 to 20/2. No hardware or software changes.

Got it fixed. Under Windows Update/Settings, I checked "Give me updates for other MS products when I update Windows" and it seems to be working fine now. Thanks for all the suggestions.

Please help

My laptop come up with windows 8.1 and a recovery partition as D drive then i use windows disk utility to split the C drive in another one then later i used a partition program probably ease partition manager (which you have mentioned earlier) and create 2 more drives . Now I want to upgrade to windows 10 but in "preparation for installation" it says windows 10 couldnot be installed and gives the error x8007003 (something like that ) then I repeat the download process and the same problem persists then I searrched for some solution and tried almost all but no progress then i read your post then I opened the disk part and I come up with this detail.
