My brother bought a Windows 8.1 tablet late last year and he came to me today with issues I'm not sure how to solve as I don't use them, just full desktop versions that remain activated even with internet loss. He bought a Pendo (cheap Australian import brand) Windows 8.1 tablet (supermarket store bought/legitimate) and it's suddenly having activation issues. His wi-fi seemed to have disconnected at first and re-connection re-established his activation but now it won't at all.
As far as I knew, once a new tablet was turned on, connected and activated it would stay that way despite a temporary lack of internet, for example if the wireless died in the tablet in the home internet's Wi-Fi (Telstra ADSL2+) has decided it hates the tablet. His device was working, non-connected and had no issues in the last eight months when it didn't have the internet for days at a time and now its decided the device is un-activated and he's having trouble using the internet at all. I'd understand internet issues, whether the ISP hates a certain device or it's having connection issues but the activated tablet behaving as though it's not after eight months of operation is a new one.
Thanks for reading, and any help you can offer would be appreciated.
