Solved Fix Windows 10 Notification Icon

I got the windows 10 notification icon a week ago when it first came out and I reserved my spot but a couple days after that I had to reinstall 8.1 because something was corrupt that wouldn’t let updates install.

Now a couple days have passed and my windows 10 icons hasn’t returned so I went digging through my computer and found that the icon isn’t currently active. Does anybody here know what to do to activate it again?

I switch it from show icon to hide icon back to show icon to see if that would fix it but it didn't. :cry:

Just check your update status, get to know windows 10, not sure notify you from icon or if gave e-mail address will do it that way when it's available. Some asking how to get rid of it, seems you have somehow.

You do, how did you ? Is update shown in installed updates, KB3035583 ? If not run check for updates and reinstall it.

Go to where the address bar is(C:\Windows\System32\GWX) and click GWX(application) if that doesn't work try GXXUX.

Ran both a administrator nothing happened. Do you think (Restoring Default Icon Behaviors) would mess anything up?

Took forever to find this finally got the icon back!!

Got to start open command prompt (run as administrator)
copy and paste the script below and the icon will show up in seconds :eek:


reg add "HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\AppCompatFlags\UpgradeExperienceIndicators" /v UpgEx /t REG_SZ /d Green /f
%SystemRoot%\System32\GWX\GWX.exe /taskLaunch
