First some history.
This was my OH PC and he had windows 7 64bit installed and upgraded to Windows 8. Then did the free 8.1 upgrade.
After repeated problems I decided to reinstall the PC, Windows 7 installed with a few problems which were fixed prior to even looking at Windows 8.
Now I am trying to do all the Windows 8 updates so that I can upgrade to Windows 8.1 again.
However, Windows update KB3034344 and KB3032323 repeatedly fail and the system gets reverted back to before they were installed. I have tried installing these updates separately and even in different order. Nothing works.
I went onto helpdesk on microsoft and the tech guy couldn't do it, and repeatedly kept trying to sell the paid for $99 service. Then he said that he could help me no further and I would have to be up-scaled to the next tier of help, which is the paid for version. I repeatedly told this guy that I do not have the money for such a service, and as the last time I had problems with Windows updates the woman couldn't help and insisted that I needed to pay. Then my OH told me to try switching off my Antivirus whilst I install them, and it worked. (so I would have paid $99 for a tech person to remotely switch off my antivirus)
HOWEVER the problem this time is not with downloading them, it's when the system tries to install them, it dies.
I have tried the sfc /scannow command and it says there's nothing wrong.
I tried to manually reset windows update components using this guide: How do I reset Windows Update components?
I got successfully to stage 6... but then it went mammaries up on me.
I was successful with
"The module"***" was loaded but the entry-point DllRegisterServer was not found. Make sure that "***" is a valid DLL or OCX file then try again.
After those 3 failed I gave up with trying any of the rest and restarted my PC and begged on any deity that might happen to be listening that it would restart successfully (I'm not clever enough to know exactly what everything I did so far would do and how it would affect the PC, I just follow instructions because I am a sheep (a black one at that))
So, yeah, where I am at is wondering whether the lack of these DLL's, or whatever problem is causing these DLLs to believe they are not in existence, is causing the errors with trying to install the said two updates.
Again, I'm thick as pig poop when it comes to PCs, I just know how to successfully follow instructions, so if you have clear and concise instructions on what to do next, IF you guys can help at all, I would be incredibly grateful.
Kindest regards
