I had 9..all downloaded and installed with reboot and letting MRT do it's background check took about 8 minutes using Mobile Broadband. Without a hitch.

Edit: now I'll wait and use them for a couple weeks and when there are no hiccups, run Disk Cleanup and clean out the windows updates then make my system image.

Downloading and installing now. I saw the same 9 you showed in my list. It's usually patch Wednesday for me if I let Windows update do it automatically. If I run it manually late in the day they usually show up on Tuesday. I do believe they stagger the auto updates based on what time zone/area you live in.

Why do you do a disc cleanup after you install updates? I guess i missed the memo.

Thanks,

I don't always run Disc Clean up after I download & install major Win updates, but I do run it about once per month.

Frankly I am unsure exactly what it does, but I know it does free-up some disc space after it deletes, for example, older win updates, and superceded Win Defender updates.

I would welcome input from experts here i.r.o. whether or not I should run the MS Disc Cleanup regularly

Disk Cleanup is a good tool. I run it once a month too. I usually run mine in the middle of the month, do full scans, and defragment as well.

Re: my above post about the latest Windows updates ... I am happy to report that the download and installation went without a hitch. I will now perform a disc clean up

I always wait a week or two to make sure the updates don't have any bugs before I use Disk Clean up. Here is why(Goes for windows 8.1 also:

This article describes an update for the Disk Cleanup wizard in Windows 7 Service Pack 1 (SP1) or in Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1.

This update adds a new plugin to the Disk Cleanup wizard. After you install this update, you can use the Windows Update Cleanup option to delete Windows updates that you no longer need.
Notes

  • The Windows Update Cleanup option is available only when the Disk Cleanup wizard detects Windows updates that you do not need on the computer.
  • To let you roll back to previous updates, updates are stored in the WinSxS store even after they are superseded by later updates. Therefore, after you run the Disk Cleanup wizard, you may be unable to roll back to a superseded update. If you want to roll back to a superseded update that the Disk Cleanup wizard deletes, you can manually install the update.
  • The feature update was already released for Windows 7 SP1 in October in 2013, and there is no revision for the Windows 7 bundles. folders.
I just want to make any possible rollbacks easier.:tip:
