I have just performed a clean re-install of 8.1 using the win8.1 update1 ISO image (http://windows.microsoft.com/en-IN/windows-8/create-reset-refresh-media)

after the installation, I found there are 53 updates to be installed.

is there a specific sequence I have to follow, in installing all these updates - to avoid some clash and mal-working?

do I need to mention which updates are showing up? for you to be able to guide me?

thank you for the help

Most people have Updates set automatically. You must be working it differently.

I download the individual updates in the order they are presented by Windows Update, category and kb#. I then install them in clumps of category and earlier kb# first. If there are more than ten entries per category, I split the category into separate clumps. Reboot after each clump. Should there be any reverting, the damage is minimal.

Occasionally, the size of the Update doesn't match anywhere near the file to be downloaded. That's when I defer to Windows Update. After a reboot, sometimes, the earlier kb# file is no longer needed. The eccentricities of Microsoft Windows OS.

If you install them in smaller batches of 10 or 12, you run less risk that things go wrong.
