I have my update set to download but choose what and when to update.

Since the update my laptop has gone nuts.

It first started not allowing me to get on internet, then its now allowing me. A message appeared "execution faled" or something like that.

My Avast has disappeared like a whipped dog.....cant get into "uninstall programs" to see if its there?

Control panel is off the planet and takes ages to load, then wont load diagnostic files - just shuts down.

System restore said it could not do the action required when I restored it to the point before the updates......

Am scared to touch anything as I have internet access but dont know if I am protected.......

Thanks if you know what this is????

Did you install the optional update KB3000850, if so uninstall it. People who have Avast have had problems with this update. Avast is to fix their problem and you should be able to reinstall KB3000850 within the next day or so.

You don't get to program files from the control panel.

You open Windows Explorer.
Click on your C: drive & Program Files---

You might have to reinstall it.
Since it is in Program Files you could maybe click the .exe file in the picture.
Or download it again.

Went in to uninstall it but Control Panel is clunky and wont open then it does then it doesnt....eventually gets to the program list....I uninstalled it.

The notification area "customise" button does nothing.....at least after waiting ages....

If I re-install Avast...that doesn't solve the other problem and why my pc is behaving weird or why avast disappeared....its a bandaid fix inst it?

It's all I could think of. :(

Maybe someone else will offer better advice.
