As the title says upon checking for Updates I am getting Codes 801901F7 or 80072EE2 or 80072EFD which I believe is a problem with connecting with the MS server.
Have ran the Troubleshooters, Reset, cleared the Cache, SFC and DISM, all reporting no problems. No connection problems either.

I don't think this had anything to do with CCleaner or your resetting.
I haven't done anything and windows update now works for me. So it was probably a problem on Microsoft servers, not on our side.

The error you are showing had nothing to do with the MS problem yesterday.

Your error code 0x8024402F is among the ones posted here on this Microsoft KB article http://support.microsoft.com/kb/836941
Follow the steps mentioned in the KB article and keep us posted.

Has Microsoft falt out fired their QA team? Seriously, Windows 8.1 has been the worst OS I have ever used in terms of update failures... which is sad because I otherwise love the OS.
