Should the last 171 MB update be installed if the system is working ok. It is labeled optional yet it looks like service packs used to look like.
Thank you

I did too but some still had problems with it. If you don't need what it offers, you may as well skip it.

I have it hidden unless I find I need it. Thanks.
Optional usually means skip to me unless it is specific. if this was a service pack as they used be called, I think it would have been urgent or recommended.

August 2014 update rollup for Windows RT 8.1, Windows 8.1, and Windows Server 2012 R2

Take the time to read the list of fixed issues. If there's something in there that affects your system, then feel free to install it. For home users, the most interesting are the fixes to USB (2959144, 2934797), hibernate/wake up (2984374, 2983477, 2979097), battery life (297070 ), PDF store apps (2972727), and OneDrive (2981650).

If you're concerned about any problems after installing this update then you can wait a few months to get feedback wether this update has problems. Since it is optional and not a security update, waiting before install is always a good decision.

I spoke with a person I rely upon and he advised installing any KB updates so I did with no issues.
I thank you for your advice and time will tell. This sure has caused controversy.
