Black Tuesday Updates - Uninstall If No Issues Or What?
Older - But No Wiser

A big hoo-ha going on online regarding people getting BSOD's in 7 and 8/8.1 etc and apparently MS are suggesting uninstalling certain updates that just came in.
Microsoft Says to Uninstall August Patch Updates, Causing 'Blue Screen of Death'
I'm not getting the BSOD but am getting a curious white window at shut down that such-and-such can't reference to memory or similar wording.
Not sure what to do in this case as everything works OK.

Thanks. I'm going to have to investigate that strange white pop-up though. It only occurs just before the machine switches off or reboots to my other OS. I'll try to write down what it says if it stays up long enough.

I still have all those updates installed and have experienced no problems, pop-ups, nothing, touch wood. Maybe I was one of the lucky ones.

Well coincidentally I doubled my RAM - hope it's not that, although if it were I would see similar errors in the other OS's in my multi-boot so doubt it.
I'll check 8.1's Event Viewer to see if I can pin it down, probably some software issue.

It's more a question of whether they are responsible for that weird warning. It hasn't occurred the last two reboots so I'll keep fingers crossed that it's history.
Thanks ;-)

There is still no official statement (in over a week) from Microsoft regarding uninstalling certain updates if you have no issues. I see a lot of articles saying that Microsoft says to uninstall certain updates. But if you look at the actual Microsoft web page there is no such statement, they are stating to uninstall if you're having issues.
Microsoft should actually confirm that you DO or DO NOT need to take any action if there are no CURRENT issues. Will keeping the KB2982791 update installed possibly cause a problem in the future if fonts get installed to your system using a shortcut to another folder?

Maybe they'll issue a patch for the patch, wouldn't be the first time. I'm taking no action unless I start seeing really abnormal behaviour in 7 and 8.1.
