The latest 8.1 64-bit update - KB2919355 - is a cumulative update for 64 bit systems. It is nearly 1 Gb of data. After installing this update I began to notice that certain 32-bit programs would not start, producing error messages like this:
"The program is not completely installed, or it asked you to reboot, but you did not reboot. Or, the program is not installed in this user's space (or similar)."
I am not using Windows "apps". I have ClassicShell installed and use the desktop to navigate and run programs as administrator.
Previous to the update listed above, everything worked normally if you can call 8.1 normal. The problem was beyond my ability to track down. After a complete re-install I updated up to but not including the latest mega update above. Everything now works fine again. The information panel on the update takes you to a Microsoft web site explaining what is going on. One section of this informative page lists all known programs that no longer work after updating. Seriously?
Instructions with the update say that no further updating will be available without first installing KB22919355. Great! I did see a post last week posted here:

Is this post referring to my specific issue? Perhaps others have noticed a problem like this.
Thanks!
