I installed the 13 updates & they fried my computer.
I had to resort to a Macrium image to get it to work again.
Am making a new image now.
Made some other changes I want to save.

Then I'll try the 13 updates again.

That's not good news. I've got 13 and 1 optional to install. All at once or one at a time. Decisions...decisions:eek:

I do them in bunches, malicious update first, then office updates, then security updates, then Windows updates, then Net framework updates (these I do one at a time). I do it this way and have since Microsoft started coming out with updates because if something should go wrong I do not have to uninstall them all, and it is easier to figure it all out

Sorry, David - these were the May 13 Updates? I am having problems with 2 of them on one pc (KB2956575 and KB2955164) Went ok on other dekstop and on laptop. Microsoft seems to continue the problem with updates, user posts about these are creeping up on the Internet in the last couple of days. I hope it isn't as widespread as Windows 8.1 Update 1. Hope you're back up and running again.

Might have something to do with the order they present and download/install them. Only once I had problem when there was 77 updates, had to go 3 times thru them to install all of them. This one went thru without a hitch. On the other hand, I don't have all those customizers like Starts, pharts or whatever, I do all the customizing within windows options.

After hours of testing I found the KB295164 update was causing the problem.

It was optional so I removed it & hid it.

Everything is fine now. :)

A reason why I always install Important updates first and check what Optional ones are for. One of those Optional ones tries to install new driver for my TV card and that driver doesn't work anyway. I also do not do any updates to MS Office, always screws up something.
