update KB2919355 Error 0x80073712. all fixes failed.

I've done everything here with no fix: KB2919355 (Windows 8.1 Update) Fails (800f0092 and - Microsoft Community

These are the only solutions that i can find and i've done both of them and neither has worked or they've given me additional errors such as the troubleshooter just telling me it couldn't fix it and the second one saying invalid package.


In a week now i won't be able to get updates to Windows because of this stupid update so i'm desperate for help hoping that there is something i've missed over the 500 google search results i've gone through.
I also want to make it clear that I CAN'T WIPE THIS PC under any circumstances unless there is no other possible option. If it truly is the only option than I'll do it but it's going to be months until i have the time to actually do it.


I have tried the DISM healthrestore, it failed with:


Error: 0x800f081f
DISM failed. No operation was performed.


I have tried the dism /online /remove-package /packagenameackage_for_KB2919355~31bf3856ad364e35~amd64~~6.3.1.14 it failed with:


Error: 0x800f0805

The specified package is not a valid windows package.

Again i need to make it very clear that i can't wipe my PC right now. It will be weeks if not months until i can wipe this machine and it is the only one i can use right now. And to be completely honest i shouldn't have to wipe my PC because microsoft screwed up. I've been using windows since 3.1 and i've never EVER had a problem this insanely stupid.

tried one crazy solution to erase HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\WINEVT" from the registry. did not work.

If you are still having a problem installing the latest KB2919355, zip up the files under c:\windows\logs\cbs and share them out on OneDrive, and I will take a look.

I finally got it updated thanks to an idea from microsoft support.

I had to get the technet/msdn 8.1 64 bit ISO and do an 'in place upgrade' using the instructions i found here: http://www.eightforums.com/tutorials/26095-repair-install-windows-8-a.html and it kept all my files and updated 8.1 update one and everything has been fine since then.

Insanely stupid i had to go to these kind of lengths but at least it's done, and i guess i know how to fix update 2 this fall if the same crap happens again lol.

You probably didn't need to perform a repair install, but at least you are functioning again.
