This morning I saw a blue screen telling me there were updates to install.

I OK'ed it and it was KB2919355 - the so-called 8.1.1 update.

Weird, a second one?

It was a very quick install and restart.

Retired in 2015 after working in the tech industry for 41 years. First 10 years as a Technician, the rest as a programmer/software engineer. After 1 year of retirement, I was bored so went back to work as a Robotic Process Automation Consultant. Retired for 3rd (and final) time in 2019.
I had update since it leaked first time and it was just fine until yesterday when computer restarted because of some glitch in HW.
Then in red letters on the sign in page, it said that this update is ready to be downloaded and installed. At first I declined because I can clearly see that it's installed and functioning. Now when I read this post I checked again with Win Update and it showed up on the list, I let it update, finished in few seconds, restarted computer and now it does not show as available any more and that is installed.

When the update is installed, I think, like any MS updates, a cookie is also stored and the log is updated.
If a cleaner is subsequently used, it will remove the log, and the update service sees it as no longer installed. It is happening, as this is an "update of updates". Definitely a serious bug which should not be happening.
However, to the point and for info, have you since, cleaned up in any way?

Use several different computers during a day, so specs are irrelevant.

I just did a clean install and got:
KB2939087 - apparently a hotfix for "Error 0x800771a91 when installing update 2919355 in Windows", then
got the KB2919355 again.

OK. I have made a fresh install from the full MSDN ISO. I am going to put noting on it except the updates, and wait to see what happens.

I think its a re-release of the same update to fix Windows Update itself. Think I read on here, try a search.

So far, only 3 hours later, no further update.
P.S. No, it was not the leaked update, it was the full ISO download from MSDN on the 2nd April.

Maybe some people were right in their thinking that "leaked" update was changed later on for official release.

The one I used was the full "Windows 8.1 with Update" ISO from Technet on 2 April - I assume it's the same as the MDSN one; I certainly wasn't using a leaked one. (I think that other thread is also about the full MSDN/Technet release, not the leaked one).

I think I manually did a 'Check for Updates', and then it found another KB2919355 update.

It's possible that the 8 April Technet ISO has got the updates missing from the 2 April ISO, of course.

Another oddity.
The link says
"Many people who installed Win 8.1 Update from the MSDN download last week are complaining that they're being offered a new patch, KB 2934018, when looking in the April Black Tuesday patch list in Windows Update. Moreover, one of the patches in the MSDN download, KB 2949621-v2, doesn't exist on the Windows Update site."

I don't see either of these in my history, on any of my installations?

Neither do I, none of the above.
Now the last update is KB2919355 which I did long time ago from leaked update. It's there only once so I guess the it was replaced during update I was offered (and did it) couple of days ago.

Three days now since the fresh and clean install. Still no duplicate update on that, or any of my computers. So whatever the bug is, I don't seem to have it.

I got the update this morning when I switched on my Asus Notebook, the message was in the bottom about the Windows Updater and a restart would be needed, if I didn't do it, it would automatically restart in 1 day. As I shut down and restart everyday of course it did it's install this morning.
Looking at the details it does say you may get offered this again even if it's installed already, but it will not be the full version just fixes. The install went without fault and was successful. ;)

Second update of kb2919355

I also successfully installed this key update to Windows 8.1 and this update shows in my install history. However, the same kb2919355 update still shows as an "important" available pending update. I have not yet tried to install it, pending user experience of others in this forum doing so...

I decided to investigate a bit before I forgot about this.

I looked in C:\Windows\Servicing\Packages and my backup logs for that time and I only see stuff about KB2959977 on that date

This indicates a minor fix to Windows Update related to HTTPS and TLS 1.2:

https://support.microsoft.com/kb/2959977

At the end it says:

"Microsoft has released a revised Windows 8.1 and Windows Server 2012 R2 Update (KB 2919355) that addresses this problem. The revised update is now available on WSUS and the Microsoft Download Center."
