Updating to 8.1

Is there any way to update from 8 to 8.1 without going through the store? Clicking on the update thingy in the store does absolutely nothing. the button just looks "pressed" for a bit then goes back to normal.

Note: this is not about the computer listed in my specs. The computer in question is a Dell Inspiron 14R

The only other way to upgrade is to get your hands on one of the ISO's from MSDN or TechNet.

Will it ask for a product key if i update it through there? The computer came with windows 8 pre-installed and I'm not sure if we have the installation CD with the key
