So I have my computer set for me to manually update, I have tried the auto feature but have had the computer randomly restart to install updates and seems my computer knows when that would be an inconvenience to me. I check for updates and I have noticed that I have not had any updates in the last two weeks and I am probably wrong but doesn't MS do weekly updates? If not is there a time line they release updates in and I shouldn't be worrying. Thanks for any info.
Microsoft releases updates for Windows every second Tuesday of each month. Otherwise known as patch Tuesday.
Windows Defender usually has definition updates through Windows Update each day.
Every so often there could be other updates release at random times. These could be critical security updates that Microsoft deems can't wait until the normal release schedule on path Tuesday, and others could be for drivers or Microsoft programs (ex: Office).
Brink,
Thanks again, good to know. I will wait about another week and see if some updates comes and if not I will post for some help on it. I didn't know about patch Tuesday, will I receive Defender updates even though I have defender turned off?

In my neck of woods, it's "Patch Wednesday", always a day late. I'm East of USA and like this it looks like "Internet world" is turning wrong way.
With 8.1.1 there were only 3 updates.
