Hi all , ok here's my question I need to find out about Activating. I have windows 7 upgrade my own i purchase on cd which it won't activate because i used it on more then one pc. So I brought windows 8 pro and did a clean install and I know I did wrong and can't activate it because there wasn't a previous windows installed.. So I downloaded a full version of Windows 7 pro. And installed it , now I can't activate it because I don't have a product key, with that be said will I be able to install my Windows 8 pro as an Upgrade and be able to Activate it??? Please and thank you for your help this is driving me crazy. I'm in the process of building a fresh machine in the mean time.

Yes you can get it activated, but you will have to call (number given in activation screen) microsoft to do so (should be no program).

Windows 8 didn't like my laptops sata drivers so I had to install windows 7 first when I bought ssd drive, I didn't activate because I didn't find oem windows 7 home premium iso files.
So I just installed that windows 7 without a key, then I went and upgraded that non activated windows 7 to windows 8 pro.

It activated flawlessly and I even contacted to microsoft, and they said that it will stay activated even it is installed over windows 7 30 day trial.

So that windows 8 upgrade installer isn't interested about your activation state, only requirement is that you have either windows xp, vista or 7 installed to your computer, and have legal keys for them.

Thank you Mad dog, what you stated was probably what I'm going to have . A non activated win 7 then upgrade to 8 and activate without a problem. I'm not ready to do it , I need to create a array raid first before I install on to my raidr express ssd.
