I noticed upon boot up 8.1 put up a Windows update notice so I went to the store and only saw some app updates. Went to the Update site and saw the security update Cumulative Security Update for Internet Explorer 11 for Windows 8.1 Preview for x64-based Systems (KB2870699)

Download size: 27.3 MB

You may need to restart your computer for this update to take effect.

Update type: Important

It downloads and installs to about the 90% mark and fails. Googling the code brings up old Vista threads. Anyone else get this to work?

DISM Fail.PNG

So I thought I had the answer when I found this page: Error Code 0x80073712 occurs in Windows Update or Microsoft Update

Running DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Scanhealth finished with no problem. But running DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth fails as you can see in the screen shot above.

The log file shows several of these Temp file failures:

25, Info DISM DISM Provider Store: PID=4332 TID=2072 Encountered a servicing provider, performing additional servicing initializations. - CDISMProviderStore::Internal_LoadProvider
2013-09-26 02:01:25, Info DISM DISM Provider Store: PID=4332 TID=2072 Provider has not previously been encountered. Attempting to initialize the provider. - CDISMProviderStore::Internal_GetProvider

I'm wondering should I just delete and rebuild the Temp file?

Update: Cleaning out the Temp file did not help.

Will it looks like no one has a clue. I guess it doesn't really matter since the full version is out in 3 weeks and I will dump the preview.
