Another person having trouble with .Net Framework 3.5

Hi all, I hope you can help.

I've been trying to install Autodesk 3DS Max 2013 but it won't full install as it says I require .Net Framework 3.5. It triggers a download but this always fails with error code 0x800F0906 (I know this error code is linked with interrupted internet connections but my one is solid).

*I've put in my system spec at the bottom of this post*

I've been trawling the internet looking for answers and have finally thought that now is the time to ask.

    This is what i've already tried and failed with;

    1) Tried triggering the download & activation through - control panel > Program features > Turn Windows features on or off >.NET Framework 3.5 (includes .Net 2.0 and 3.0)

Same error code kept popping up.

    2) Tried deleting all frameworks and re installing them. For this I used steps 1-4 on Elizabeth Dawkin's sky drive.
    This comprises 1. Cleanup 2. 3.5 3. Dotnetfx 4. 1.1 SP1

    Here's the link

    Didn't fix it...

    3) My latest attempt has been through admin command prompt

This never ran properly, I've popped in a screen shot of the error and the text I've inserted below.

Not sure what the above error code means...

If anyone could help or link to a site / forum where i might find an answer I would really appreciate it.

    Thank you!

The answer is that MS did not put all the components needed for .NET 3.5 in with Win8. You have to used the Win8 installation DVD to retrieve the missing components. IF you install from the DVD, it will work -- I know, because I did it.

I had the same issue trying to load Quicken on my Surface Pro. The Quicken link wouldn't complete the download and install but after the two attempts thru the Control Panel route I got it installed. I like you had no reason for it not to complete the first time.

Please help a really silly person...
I'm sorry, but i am really inept and having a hard time getting to know Win8. I just purchased a new laptop which came with a free 30 day trial of Microsoft Office. I had intended to set my laptop up with 2 users - both me, but one for work and one for personal. So what i did was...

What kind of person are you?
Simply put, are you a pessimist, optimist, or "realist?" Realist being the politically correct term of pessimist. :)

Why does everyone laugh at Bing? I personally love Bing!!! There are so many more options and it works great for me! Why do many people dislike Microsofts programs? IE & Bing?

I have yet to meet anyone in person who actually likes it
I finally broke down and installed classic shell on my desktop a few days back and I must say, I find this OS so much more enjoyable with it. I have proceeded to install this app on a friends new laptop, as well as a distant family member's pc. Both were very grateful to have the start menu back....

Rate the avatar of the person who posted above you. A little silly, but it was on VF and SF and I haven't seen it here yet. :-)
