Should i update windows 8

i am getting my windows 8 laptop in a few days, ihave heard many issues with windows update,where people update and their computers getting stuck in the middle and so on ,So please tell me when i get my laptop should i update windows or DISABLE UPDATES?

updates are nothing but security fixes. By updating you will be on the safer side. In my case I did not face any difficulties. I suggest you to update windows. In case you experience errors we are there to help you. :)

If you have another partition other than c then you may consider having a back up image of c drive just in case. If updates fails and system gets unstable you can easily revert back to back up .

And, system restore will take you back to before an update(s) is (are) installed. A sound policy is to create a new restore point every time before you do an update(s).

No, don't disable them. Microsoft is pretty good at fixing things.
