Hi all

I have downloaded and installed win 8 on my desktop pc I then activated it.
I have now found that my wifes favourite games will not run on it.
She wants to go back to Win 7.
How can I deactivate Win 8 on my desktop. and then instal it on my laptop and register it.

Thanks Oilyboy

There never has been (and probably never will be) any way to 'de-activate' Windows.
Simply reformat and reinstall teh original OS on the current machine, and use the Upgrade on your target machine - you will probably need to use telephone activation.

Tried to activate but can`t get hold of a human.
Voice says they are transferring me to a person but then they cut me off.

telephone activation (operator calls)
Click on the Start button
in the Search box, type
SLUI 4
and hit the Enter key
follow the instructions, but when asked which service you require by the telephone ansafone, do NOT reply - this should force an operator to respond, who can deal with you

Sorry - I though you were back on Windows 7 by now :)
Bring up the Search charm and type
SLUI 4
....etc

Nope - at this stage of the game, that's really all I can suggest.
You mus NOT respond at all - and sime countries only operate a 9-5 Mon-Fri activation line, so it may be a good idea to wait until Monday.

Why don't you load a Windows 7 Virtual Machine in Windows 8 (using Hyper-V) and install the games there? That's what I did for some apps that only run under XP.

you will need another windows 7 license for that because after upgrade you can not use earlier windows version that you upgrade from. and to use hyper v you need your cpu to support advanced virtualization.. not all cpus support it.
