Last night i restarted my laptop so windows 8 can install the updates. it logged me off and installed the updates and the restarted. i then when on and waited while it booted up, i sat there for about 20 minutes before i decided to restart the computer (it was stalling on the windows 8 boot/load/splash screen) then after that it kept on stalling on the boot screen. i tried the factory restore option and it loaded and the froze on the first screen and the loading windows files screen (it was a black screen with just a mouse arrow) even tried reinstalling threw with the windows 8 dvd disk and it would continuously load and restart. so i decided to install linex threw my usb drive. but the drive wouldnt boot, so i just turned it off and back on. after that the windows disk decided to boot up and the disk actually loaded and i chose the repair option and decided to reset windows (clean reinstall) the screen said please wait and after about 30 minutes the computer said can not find a valid partition. any ideas how to get it working or will i need to buy a new hard drive?

try MBR repair, were you dual booting? Did you try safe mode and uninstall the update ?

I am having the same issue. First post on geilt.com has all my details and what I have tried. I currently trying to remove the update but its hanging at boot. the only way I have been able to get it supposed to remove all USB devices including the mouse. Fortunately I am using a Ps2 keyboard. However this message does not always work. I have had to use Windows Automatic repair from the DVD's 3 now. System Restore doesn't work when selected however the automatic repair will do it's own system restore which does work. It does not guarantee that it will continue restart . I am still trying to find an answer.
