Windows 8 Pro to retail for €59.99?

A screenshot leaked today that may show the retail price of a Windows 8 Pro digital download. While it has not been confirmed by Microsoft, and we are pretty sure it won’t, it looks genuine enough and would fit right into the ballpark figure that we expected the Windows 8 Pro download to retail for.


A price of €59.99 Euros could mean that that customers from the United States would have to pay anywhere between $59.99 to $74.99 for the digital download of the operating system. This gets them the a Windows 8 Pro and a digital download of the operating system. A physical copy on DVD would set you back another €14.99, which is about $18.99 in US Dollars.

Roughly £60, or £75 if you want the dvd.

That is half what windows used to cost.

Not sure what that is about, aren't oem's paying $60 - or more?

As per usual, I'm expecting us Aussies to pay far more. I'm expecting to have to cough up ~$200 for a retail copy. Hopefully we can get OEM versions for around half that.

Same thing here, mate. This country just begs for any reason to empty our pockets as much as possible. Still, if 8 actually prices this low, I can just get my grandma to buy a retail copy next time she visits Germany. I already know that I can just upgrade, but I like my retail copies :D
