Windows 8 Release Candidate to be called "Release Preview"
We have info that Windows 8 Release Candidate will be called "Release Preview" and that will be launched sometime in late May or early June.
But we must say that all these are just rumors.

Hi there
never mind the name -- they could call it WinUniverse for all I care.
But what we all WANT TO KNOW is
"WOTSINIT" !!!! Has Metro changed at all and added customisation.
Compared with the same stage of W7 development where we had leaks galore and zillions of "Unofficial - Official" builds leaking out into the wild this time Ms is running this with about the same security as the Mossad or a CIA "Black Op".
Never thought Ms could keep stuff THIS secure !!! - Unless they've subcontracted their security to ? Dare I say it. !
Cheers
jimbo

Jimbo I'm afraid the lack of leak from Microsoft means that Windows 8 CP is the final product, they are just patching it now and they just wait now to finalize the ARC version to launch it. This is very sad.

Not sure why they are bothering tbh.
If it is late may/june - that gives them very little time to get feedback and make adjustments.
Unless they will only be taking feedback from oem's.
I don't expect there will be much to see.
They may flatten out/square off the icons and that kind of thing.
Possibly something to stop people getting trapped the first time they get to the desktop.
The release to the public will just be for marketing - trying to keep some momentum going.

A little confusing post. Quote from source:
Firstly, we shall mention, those aren’t facts or rumours.
And the picture shows:
Consumer Preview
RC
Release Preview
Without any more information it looks like the next release will be RC followed by Release Preview (what ever that is).

You are still an optimist. That would be the first development group that cares about customer feedback.
All the feedback I have ever seen in my 35 years of OS development landed in the bin. The reason is simple. Customers usually look only backward. But the developers look forward. They have their long term strategy (which is unknown to customers) and that is what they go by.
It may be a bit different with the OEMs. They have clout and they also have a long term strategy. That has to be harmonized with the OS.

Have to agree, don't think they will change much now.
Would be nice to see a few customization additions, guess we'll find out soon enough.

lol I think they are going to expand the color choice for the Start menu to about 16, give or take. I've seen a screenshot that didn't seem shopped to me. But who knows, it could have been.
