What IS the Post PC world.

I know there are loads of people who can't even cross a road without staring robot like into the small screen on a smartphone and twiddling away on two thumbs (Who said that : "The Devil makes Work for Idle thumbs") but these devices are in NO way suited to creating decent presentations, editing multi-media, editing LARGE Professional quality grade photos with an app like Photoshop, entering complex data on decent size spreadsheets etc etc. (None of this stuff is really suited to touch screen either)

If the phone / device can connect to a bank of decent LARGE monitors, can read GB or even TB of external data from attached or remotely connected devices and allow both keyboard and pen input when required (say via a Docking station) then to all intents and purposes IT IS A PC.

There's so much JUNK or just plain Bol---ks written about the demise of the PC -- I don't even know why I should be answering the thread -- but I'm in a train station waiting for an Inevitably delayed train so I've nothing else to do --even the Beer is HIDEOUS !!!!.

Nobody -- But Nobody has yet come up with a device to replace a PC -- sure some devices can do some things just as things like the Ipod changed the way we probably obtain and listen to music -- same with the Internet for movies -- It's been ages since I actually needed a physical DVD in a computer -- but the computer itself -- well it's STILL here for the long term.

I hope your workplace doesn't run your payroll for example from a single dubious Android (better known as "Dumbdroid") leaky App. !! on a single smart phone.

W8 will integrate with more devices -- it's not W8 that's the problem -- it was the junk phone. I don't particularly like Android but both the Samsung Galaxy and HTC set of phones are so much ahead of the really tired looking Nokia and Windows phones that I'm surprised that they are selling a SINGLE ONE of these. -- Back home you couldn't even GIVE these away -- and probably in Spain / Italy / UK etc these might even be used as "missiles" when the referee makes an obvious blinding mistake at a sports event.

+1 with Jim. Too many people do too many things with their computers that cannot be done on a tablet with a touch screen. I would hate to be a college student and try to write a paper on a tablet computer. Technical reports, letters, software, memos, proposals, novels, etc.. Just can't see them being written on a tablet using a touch screen. Maybe a tablet in a docking station like some people do with their notebooks to give them a real monitor and keyboard.
By the way, referees don't make mistakes.

You obviously are not a "Footie fan".

Referees should sometimes have "definitely Gone to 'Specsavers'!!".

They do often make mistakes For example Lampards disallowed goal in World Cup in SA, blatant foul by that Manchester City (not Man Utd -- the REAL team in Manchester) Italian player Balotelli totally missed by the referee -- in front of how many million watching not only in UK but around the world on TV on Easter Sunday etc. English premier League Football is watched all over the planet --even in the USA BTW. !!!

Anyway this isn't a Footie Forum but Referees DO make mistakes -- Big Time.

Not a footie fan, can't stand soccer, almost as boring as golf to watch, but I did umpire baseball and referee basketball for 23 years up to the junior college level so I know officiating. Other than the volunteer dads who are untrained, we rarely make mistakes, we might not see something but that is a different kettle of fish.

I know that you'll say, "only junior college?" Yep. I had a regular job and other things to do with my time like spend time with my kids.
