Advance Notification October 14th 2014 Security Bulletin

Today, we provide advance notification for the release of nine Security Bulletins. Three of these updates are rated Critical, five are rated as Important, and one is rated Moderate in severity. These updates are for Microsoft Windows, Internet Explorer, Office, .NET Framework, and ASP.NET.

As per our usual process, we’ve scheduled the Security Bulletin release for the second Tuesday of the month, October 14, 2014, at approximately 10 a.m. PDT. Revisit this blog then for analysis of the relative impact, as well as deployment guidance, together with a brief video overview of the month’s updates. Until then, please review the ANS summary page for more information to help you prepare for Security Bulletin testing and deployment.

As a reminder, we are now using a new format for our Security Bulletin Webcast, scheduled on Wednesday, October 15, at 11 a.m. PDT. You are no longer required to register, download the Live Meeting client, or dial in to a separate number. A link to the Webcast will be included in our blog next Tuesday.

You can follow us on Twitter at @MSFTSecResponse.

Thank you,

One oddity from the last group of updates. MS is pushing Bing Search at us, click a new tab In IE 11 and Bing search shows up above Frequent whereas it did not before, at least not for me anyways. Trivial, I know

I never liked Bing, more of a Google search person.Do not really like Bing's search results, way it searches. Although i have not seen that update but i thought i recalled it in past called Bing Bar along with Bing Desktop.

I believe i received these Windows updates with no problem, but not sure i had to refresh my PC recently, so i had so many i lost count.

I am not talking about Bing Desktop, it is simply a Bing Search Bar that now appears when clicking a new tab in IE11

I had it too, I just went to take a screen shot and it's gone. The last thing I did was change my default search provider from Bing to Google in manage add-ons? I deleted Bing and added Google. One of the patch Tuesday updates added it, don't know which one though. I'm really getting tiered of having Bing shoved down my throat.

Noticed that too! nifty, though I just use the address bar for my searches, so also useless lol.

I got over $65 dollars worth of merchandise and gift cards just from doing normal bing searches. I think Google and Bing are comparable, so I use the one that pays :)

I had a Bing Search Bar added to the top of my New Tabs screen in IE. I went into manage add-ons and under Search Providers, I added Google and deleted Bing. Now it's gone? And good riddance.

What it did for me was make Bing search the default whereas I had Google search set as default before the updates. Changes like that without my consent are pushing it a little. :busted:

I'm getting quit annoyed at having Bing shoved down my throat.
