Gosh, Windows Updates still nothing. I am waiting for it so see, how much of this 170 MB is already installed. If it is a collection of previous fixes, it should show less, if it is a whole new thing, it should be the same.

EDIT: So it looks, it is an update after of all, if not 2, then at least 1 and 3/4. :)

I'm back, installed OK, nothing broken that I can tell anyway. I'm using a T650 Touch Pad, not sure if anything was added to its functionality. It's got so many 1 and 2 and 3 and 4 finger swipes I can't keep track of what they all do anyway.

Just found this. @4:40 PM August 2014 update rollup for Windows RT 8.1, Windows 8.1, and Windows Server 2012 R2

This is what I found that it does. Looks like it mostly not for desktops.

Install this update to resolve issues in Windows. Precision touchpad improvements ? three new end-user settings have been added: Leave touch pad on when a mouse is connected; allow right-clicks on the touchpad; double-tap and drag.? Miracast Receive ? exposes a set of Wi-Fi direct APIs for Independent Vendor (IHV) drivers or OEM drivers to develop Windows 32-bit applications that run on all supported x86-based or x64-based versions of Windows 8.1, enabling the as a Miracast receiver.? Minimizing login for SharePoint Online ? reduces the number of prompts with federated use in accessing SharePoint Online sites. If you select the ?Keep me signed in? check box when you log on for the first time, you will not see prompts for successive access to that SharePoint Online site.Windows 8.1 update is not mandatory, but everyone running Windows 8.1 is strongly recommended to install it as soon as possible.

Can't install it! I just tried to install it on my desktop and it went thru the download and install process, then backed it out. Since it's optional, I think I'll just skip installing it and "hide" it in my updates.

I only had 15 updates and they went trough in a breeze. It was just this one optional update that took the excessive time. If this update is just for touchpads, why would I get it. I don't even own a touchpad.

BTW: I hope your back will get better QLB

My laptop has a touchpad, I guess its not a "precision touchpad" as I don't see the added options where they say they should be?

I suffer from chronic pain, some days are better than others. We've had a lot of damp rainy days lately so my neck and shoulders are really sore. I have spondylitis in my cervical spine and degenerative disks in my lumbar spine. Add in my sciatica and the onset of fibromyalgia and it all adds up to a lot of pain at times. I can deal with it most days, but if I seem sporadic in my posts some days that's why. Sitting for extended periods can be very painful. Sitting is one of the worst things you can do if you have back issues. It puts the most strain on your vertebra. That's why sit stand desks are getting popular. For me sitting at the computer isn't as relaxing as it is for others.

After this update, lost charging ability of AC adapter to my lap.

No error message in the battery icon, its just that its not charging.

I tried these:

Hard reset

plugged in with ac adapter only - could power on & use

unplugged ac adapter, put battery in - could power on & use

with both ac adapter & battery inserted and powered on - no charging occurring and level goes down on use.

Did a forced shutdown, booted up with ac adap only, uninstalled MS ACPI battery, shutdown, restarted with battery alone, again shutdown - powered on with both

did a battery test from System diag F10 - passed ok

tried different plug ports in my house with the same result

did a powerdefault from cmd

all the drivers are up to date from product site.

Has anyone been having some issues after installing this latest optional update, KB2975719? I have. Every time I minimize or close a metro app it takes me back to the start menu instead of the desktop. This is very annoying since I have to manually go back to desktop. I never had this incident before installing this update. Let me know if anyone else has the same issue.
