If they do end up with something like vista, and they had been using XP, they usually dont know the difference. Its just a different look to them. Google OS wont beat Windows unless they get manufacturers to make it their recomended OS.
That is exactly right. Except the age thing. I have friend who doesn't know what OS she is running. I always make fun of her for that

That is also what Google is trying to do. They want to put their OS on netbooks. People buy them not really knowing that it will be different.

    I do yes. Windows XP.
The funniest thing is that she wants to learn about Computers. She even registered on Vistax64, but is never on.

Here's a perfect article for such a misunderstood OS. Just because it has the Google name on it does not make it something new and innovative. It's just another flavor of Linux.

I doubt Chrome OS will defeat Windows in any way. Microsoft is already working on a Cloud platform, plus the user-friendliness of it's Operating Systems improves with each version.

It might be nice, but people in the media are playing this up as the greatest thing since sliced bread. It's just another flavor of Linux. If you don't like other Linux operating systems now, you won't like Google ChromeOS either.

If you run your own copy/copies of Linux, then you probably already have a favorite flavor (ie: distro), and Google ChromeOS might not change that for you.

ChromeOS isn't any more a competitor for Windows 7 than any other Linux distro is.
