Amazon rival Newegg heading to the UK in March

That's good news. Until now I had to buy my stuff in Europe from Alternate and they suck.

I like Newegg prices; however, the only thing I don't like about them is you have to pay for return shipping on defective items; whereas, Amazon sends you a pre-paid return label and the returns are free. So, if you want to return a (2 lb) $19.99 defective item to Newegg, its going to cost you $11.47 for return shipping. This is the voice of experience talking here.

I use both, and Newegg used to always have the best price. It certainly isn't the case any more, it seems ever since they started expanding, their shipping rates have increased, restocking fees and unit prices have all increased. Plus Amazon offers their own financing, should you need it. I have to say, I don't recall ever having a problem with Amazon. My use of Newegg has decreased dramatically.

This, right here.

I do adore Newegg and almost exclusively buy my compulator parts from them, but Amazon sure beats the heck out of everyone in regards to customer service and satisfaction. I've had several incidences where I need to return something from them that didn't work out, I think if Amazon themselves handle the product, they've actually refunded me my money and just let me keep the product. It's freaking awesome!

On Newegg on the other hand, it's pretty hit or miss. I've had to pay return shipping on everything except these USB cradles for wifi adapters I bought recently idiotically thinking the wifi adapter came with it as depicted in the picture. They came from China and went to RMA it, they just refunded my money and didn't require me to ship it back. It was weird...

Love the Amazon, don't get why people want to chop it down. :p

We have Canadian versions of those two companies. That said, Amazon Canada is a total ripoff beyond compare. Thus, when I do need to buy something off Amazon, I always use the US site.(I have American family and there's a good deal of back and forth traffic)

Case in point. I bought a Noctua 140mm fan. $17. bucks on the US site, free shipping.
$38. bucks on the Canadian site, and $9. bucks shipping.

There is no justification whatsoever.

At one time I bought a lot of stuff from TigerDirect as they shipped to Canada. Once Newegg started their Canadian site I switched to them. Their prices were consistently lower. Shipping times seem to a bit longer than TigerDirect was though. I've never shopped at or bought anything from Amazon though. I guess I've been lucky, I've never had to RMA anything and go though that hassle.

I love Newegg. I use the Newegg business site and the regular site. Both have been great. Prices, shipping and customer service are superb. The web site is robust and has a great search feature. They have a warehouse 1 state over from me so standard shipping will often get me the goods overnight. Tigerdirect/Global Computer and Amazon I use pretty much only when I can't find something on Newegg.
