Don't look for Bill Gates for inspiration otherwise. A recent interview with him had him say that he believes computing technology will shift beyond a screen and keyboard, tablets with amazing handwriting recognition to replace paper, and computing devices that talk, see, and hear.

They could use a whole company wide goal. Instead of the old "PC on every desk," it could be Windows in every home, office, and school.

That wasn't ever insinuated or stated that there is a cloud based OS on the horizon...

Cloud based computing, cloud based storage, cloud based web servers, etc.

Cloud os...?? Not for this old fart. I will stick with the last desktop version of windows... and find a linux version to replace it.

Of course, I'm guessing that a full, cloud only version is still far off in the distance.

Now why do I feel that the new CEO is going to be the same as the old CEO...

My advice to the new CEO? Listen to your Users not Gates. We are operating Computers, not Phones. When you try to combine it all, it simply does not work. There is no reason why with all this "talent" you can not come out with an OS that does not need how many "service packs" to be functional. That has been your legacy since day one. Time to stop building on the faulty foundation and begin with a fresh pour. If you can not write, from the start, an OS that has not a glitch, (I'll be nice, does not crash the system) then you do not belong there. And so we shall see with how well Windows 9 will be.

Oh and scratch the cloud, I, along with others, see where that is going.

The new Win 9 will be made only for desktop/laptop and the new PhonyOS will be for phones. They will each be designed for the intended hardware.
