Windows 8.1 Update 1 reportedly set for March 11 release

Earlier this month, the man responsible for leaking screenshots of Windows 8.1's first update claimed Microsoft would release the upgrade sometime in March, though he didn't provide a specific date. According to a new report, that date is March 11.

ZDNet's Mary Jo Foley, who has a strong track record for her accuracy of Microsoft-related rumors, says one of her most "accurate and trusted sources" told her Windows 8.1 Update 1 will be released March 11; she further states that Windows Phone 8.1 will be released at about the same time as well. Foley says there's no indication if Microsoft will release future upgrades similar to Update 1 prior to the next version of Windows, which has the codename "Threshold."

[h=1]Leaked Windows 8.1 Update 1 Screenshots Reveal Start Screen Improvements[/h]
Microsoft has prepared quite a lot of improvements for users in Windows 8.1 Update 1 and a set of leaked screenshots come to reveal some of them.

This time, the photos published by famous Windows leaker WZor reveal changes made to the Start screen, all of which are supposed to make both tablets and PCs easier to use and allow adopters to perform certain tasks, such as shutting down their devices, faster.....

Windows 8.1 Update 1 is expected to debut in March, according to some new reports, and is very likely to be delivered via Windows Update in order to avoid any potential downloading and installation problems that may occur when getting it from the store.

This +100. Someone put it nicely: "those new random tile colors seems like a unicorn has vomited all over my Start Screen". I want those single color tile backgrounds back that were in Windows 8. Damn, MS, it can't be that f***ing hard.

On a side note, nice to see they're finally going to put the Shutdown/Sleep/Restart button on the Start Screen in Update 1.
