ASUS Set To Release Touchscreen Windows 8 Ultrabook

Ultrabooks seem to be all the rage these days, and for a good reason. These new breed of laptop are packing some serious specs and impressive battery life, but what makes them some impressive is that they are so incredibly thin and portable. A few Ultrabooks have currently come on mainstream in the last month or so, with a lot more expected to start making their way to our shelves in the coming months. The only thing with these Ultrabooks is that they still have traditional user input – ie. a mouse and keyboard.

As we all should know by now, Microsoft are looking to move away from this traditional form of input somewhat with Windows 8. The new Metro UI is predominantly designed for use with touchscreen devices like Tablets. However, computer manufacturer ASUS is looking to fill the gap between the super slim Ultrabooks and the touchscreen tablets.

Hi there
I hope it STILL has keyboard and Mouse input. - For Serious PC type work (Excel / presentations etc etc) a TOUCH screen is NEVER going to do.

For some apps OK but I can't see a computer ever getting rid of a Keyboard ( a Mouse maybe -- but even that's problematical).

Cheers
